My blog "title" used to be this:
SamWhyAm
And I explained my choice of title like this:
I often pick "Sam I Am" for things like this. But in creating this blog [3 years after deciding I ought to], I realized the implied certainty of "Sam I Am" isn't really true to my character. I mean, I'm certain that the birth name my parents gave me is Samantha. And I'm certain I've read the famous "Green Eggs And Ham" kiddo book by Dr. Seuss. But beyond that ... I'm not too sure of too much. And one of my favorite questions - "why?" - happens to rhyme with "I" ... alas, this is my blog.
I thought about changing my description to this:
purpose: tbd, wip and eta=u.I've decided to just leave the description empty for now. Partially because I don't feel like editing the first one I wrote down to only 500 characters. Partially because I'm almost certain I'l want to change it again in a few weeks, if not sooner. Partially because I don't like that the description is more or less my metatag for the blog, yet I seem to use it as my metag for my title. I suppose it'd be great if I could merge the two a bit better. But, alas, therein lies the problem. Or most of my problem. I just can't decide what the purpose is, what title best sums it up.
tbd: i'm indecisive & wildly curious. i don't even feel confident making a promise like "purpose 'to be determined.'" will i ever determine the purpose of this blog? this life? anything?
wip: thank you, accounting 101, for reassuring me that if inventory can be "work in progress" ...so.can.i. i must always see myself as a wip. sure, twss.
eta=u: ok, i made this one up. the last two characters, at least. my "estimated time of arrival" equals UNKNOWN. hooray for ambiguity. enjoy reading?
I had lunch with a great friend the other day. We always explode when we're together. Not literally. But in that sort of eager to share what you've been reading and learning and wondering kind of way. We also always end up with a list of follow-up items. I often find myself writing things like that on napkins. If I was responsible enough to be sure my phone were charged, I'd probably use the memo pad or just email myself instead. But I'm kickin' it old school, and writing on whatever napkin or receipt or book cover or whatever I can get my hands on when I need to write something. Which is often. I'm like a pack rat with notes and journal entries and reminders.
With that in mind, I thought about renaming my blog something like that. PackRat-o-Words or Notes-On-Napkins or something. I still may play around more with those ideas. Or maybe something that speaks to the constant series of ink blotches I have all over my left hand. I am left-handed. And as I've mentioned, I write a lot. As I haven't mentioned, I've yet to figure out how to find a pen that writes as smoothly as I'd like without also smearing everywhere. So it's just a disaster. Endearing for now, but if I ever decide to be a real grownup professional, I imagine I'll need to be a bit more put together than that.
That's what's going on today. I'm really going to try to be more consistent with these things. Really, I am.
